Remo is an app that helps digital nomads find and apply for remote jobs. The goal was to create a seamless user flow that is easy to use and navigate from a smartphone. The project included branding, UX research, UI design, and custom illustrations. The result is an app that is intuitive, visually appealing, and designed specifically for the needs of remote job seekers. This case study examines the research and design process, challenges and solutions, and results of the project.

Brand strategy played a crucial role in the design of Remo. I focused on understanding the core values and messaging of the brand, as well as the needs and expectations of the target audience. I set clear goals and objectives and used specific visual elements such as color schemes, typography, and imagery to create a cohesive user experience.
Remo's target audience is digital nomads and those who prefer remote work. The goal is to make it easier to find remote employment opportunities by concentrating those positions in one convenient app. One unique feature is that users can complete their job applications entirely on their phones. This gives users flexibility to apply from anywhere and makes the process more efficient and convenient. As a brand, we strive to be unique, considerate, creative, and efficient.
To better understand the needs and goals of our target audience, I created personas based on research and analysis. These personas helped define characteristics, motivations, and goals of the target audience. I used these personas to inform the design of Remo and ensure that the app met the needs of the target users.
I conducted usability testing with a small group of users to observe their interactions with the app and gather feedback. The testing took place in the United States and Argentina and included an introduction, tasks, and a questionnaire. I recorded time on task, user error rates, and conversion rates.
To gather information about pain points in the job search process, I conducted user interviews, surveys, and usability testing. I identified pain points such as difficulty navigating the app, a lack of filtering options, and the inability to save jobs for later. I used this information to create a design solution that addressed these issues and met the needs of our target audience.
The key findings included concerns about expectations for each step of the application process, a desire for job positions to show if they are only for USA citizens/residents, and the need to save incomplete applications as drafts. Other findings included the desire to have approved job applications at the top of the page, see the job description after applying and the post expiring, and have app notifications on the home screen.
After conducting user research and gathering insights about the needs and expectations of the target audience, it was time to start designing a solution for the Remo app. The goal was to create an efficient and user-friendly interface that would make it easy for users to find and apply for remote jobs.In the following pages, I'll delve into the details of my design process and share how I used the insights from our research to inform our design decisions. I'll also showcase the final design solution and how it addresses the pain points and needs of our users.
As I reflect on the design process for the Remo app concept, I am pleased with the result of my efforts to create a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process of discovering and applying for remote jobs. While it was a challenging process, I am grateful to have been able to contribute to the creation of an intuitive experience for users. By conducting extensive research and gathering insights about the needs and expectations of the target audience, I was able to identify key areas for improvement and design a solution that addressed these issues.
The final design solution for Remo includes a clean and straightforward interface, optimized for smaller screens and easy navigation, as well as more filtering options and the ability to save jobs for later. These features, along with the cohesive and memorable user experience created, support the brand's overall business objectives and set Remo apart from competitors in the market. Although the Remo app concept was never developed, I'm confident that the design solution created would have positively impacted the world of remote work and look forward to applying these principles to future projects. Thank you for joining us on this journey and for taking the time to review the case study.
